The Leathermen Suite is part of an ongoing examination of various
sub-cultures in my creative practice. Members of the leather community have
over the past 80 years been inspired by the work of Tom of Finland and his stylized
depictions of leather men. My drawings are a record of how individual gay men express
themselves in their own unique manner in response to the notion of the “ideal” posited
by Tom of Finland.
